A Fine Art Wedding at Château de la Garde: Timeless Elegance in the Heart of Provence
There are places in Provence that seem to have been designed specifically to celebrate love. Château de la Garde is undoubtedly one of them. As a photographer, returning to this estate is always a source of renewed inspiration. It was in this majestic setting that I had the pleasure of capturing a celebration where elegance, natural beauty, and deep emotion came together perfectly.
Capturing the Essence of the Estate
Every wedding is a story set within a unique frame. To me, the venue is more than just a backdrop; it is a character in its own right. Upon my arrival, I began by capturing the atmosphere of the ancient stones and the sprawling gardens. Using aerial drone photography, I was able to document the grandeur of Château de la Garde, offering the couple a unique perspective on the breathtaking estate they chose for their union.
The Poetry of the “Getting Ready”
The morning is a suspended moment in time—a blend of excitement and quietude. I joined the bride as she was in the expert hands of Laura Laigneau. Working alongside a makeup and hair artist of her caliber is a true joy; her aesthetic vision perfectly aligns with my Fine Art approach.
During these quiet moments, I focused on the details that make your wedding unique. The bespoke stationery, the heirloom jewelry, the rings… I capture these elements with an editorial eye, as if they were to grace the pages of a prestige magazine. I know how much thought has been put into every single detail.
Floral Artistry and the Emotion of the “I Do”
After spending some time with the groom and his groomsmen, I headed to the ceremony site. Discovering the work of Laurent Renucci is always an enchantment. As a highly talented floral designer, he transformed the space into a dreamlike garden. It is essential for me to document this scenography before the guests arrive, ensuring the couple can later discover the full beauty of their vision through my lens.
Throughout the ceremony, my focus remains on faces. While the couple is at the heart of my frame, I am always watching for a parent’s tear or a friend’s complicit smile. Capturing these spontaneous emotions is the very core of my work as a wedding photographer in Provence.
Golden Hour and Candid Moments
The cocktail hour, catered by the exceptional Roland Paix, opened a chapter of conviviality. Between a few fluidly orchestrated group portraits, I prioritized candid shots. This is when the true energy of the wedding reveals itself.
As the sun began its descent toward the horizon, I took the newlyweds away for their couple session. The Provencal light at this hour is incomparable. It is an intimate interlude—a moment for the couple to breathe and connect. My role is to guide without imposing, allowing their genuine connection to shine through in a natural, effortless way.
A Glass House Reception: Evening Sophistication
The celebration continued in the stunning glass orangerie (verrière) of Château de la Garde. Under the structure of glass and iron, the decor sparkled, creating an atmosphere of rare sophistication. The couple’s entrance, magnified by the glow of sparklers, launched the festivities with incredible energy.
From the refined dinner by Roland Paix to the heart of the night, I immersed myself among the guests. My goal? To blend into the party and capture the strength, joy, and vibrancy of these unforgettable moments from the inside.
